Audio

This is one of the many talks Swamiji has given over the past several years during early morning hours and are collectively known as ‘Prabhaata Rashmi’ or ‘Morning Rays’. These talks are sublime, invigorating, and cover a wide range of topics. In this particular instance, Swamiji discusses various concepts such as the Soul being different from the body, the essence of spiritual life, the three states of being, meditation as well as the concepts of pre and post meditational ‘saadhana.’ The word saadhana (pronounced saa-dha-naa) which you will hear in the audio clip refers to the physical and more importantly mental disciplines undertaken on the spiritual path.

In this clip, the salutary effects of spiritual practice on the state of the mind and intelligence are discussed. Swamiji further delves into the causal factor of happiness (sukha) and unhappiness (duhkha).

Instead of focusing on external factors which give rise to sukhas and duhkhas, Swamiji explains why the attention and focus must turn inward to the source of these dual expressions.

Everybody is bound to face crisis situations in their lives. However, the key is to not get weakened by such situations. A spiritual and discerning outlook can help you not only traverse but also become strengthened by the difficult events in your life. Swamiji brings this idea to life in this short audio clip. The terms 'sukha' and 'dukha' referenced in the audio clip mean 'happiness' and 'unhappiness' respectively.

Why Knowledge is essential in becoming harmonious with Nature. Swamiji refers to several Sanskrit terms in the clip. For your convenience, here are the definitions of some of the terms. 'Prakriti' – means Nature in general but in its broadest sense it encompasses the entire universe. 'Sattva' is the property of purity and enlightenment. 'Rajas' is the property of action and dynamism; and 'Tamas', the property of dullness and ignorance. These properties are inextricably interwoven in all forms of existence and phenomenon.
