A seeker on the path of realizing Brahman, finding changefulness as the very basis of creation and finding everything to be perishable, quickly develops dispassion towards the objective universe. Knowing well that the 'causeless' - Ultimate Truth, cannot be obtained by performing any action, his entire focus shifts from doing to Knowing.

Nutan Swamiji enlightens us that gaining mere theoretical knowledge is not Realization. This is a knowledge of our own Real Identity - it has to be directly experienced and lived. So, the seeker has to approach a Guru and seek his guidance to realize the Supreme Truth.

To such a seeker who is anxious to know the Truth, who is desireless and who has approached him with humility, the Guru gives refuge. Ever established in Brahman and having crossed the worldly ocean himself, the Guru, out of mercy, imparts the essence of Brahmavidya to the seeker and helps him cross the ocean of samsara!
