Having made it clear to us that everything we perceive is nothing but Consciousness, Swami Nirviseshananda Tirtha goes deeper into the twin regenerative means to spiritual progress - abhyasa (practice) and vairagya (dispassion). The emphasis in today’s Satsang, is how effortfulness is the final obstacle in this path, and surrender the ultimate pursuit and fulfillment.

It seems ironic that our self-effort is to be applied to finally become effortless, but that is the way of this wonderful, enriching spiritual journey. With the grace of the Wise Teacher, guidance of our scriptures, and our own sincere, one-pointed and dedicated effort, we are assured we can reach the pinnacle of spiritual fruition, total surrender. To be absolutely free and natural, with a feeling of complete refuge having no expectations at all… what a blissful state of being! We humbly bow our heads in gratitude to these benevolent Masters for painstakingly showing us the way.
