In this talk, Swamiji continues with the analysis of the three Gunas, the constituents of prakriti. This helps us to analyse our own personality and understand the corrections needed.
Sattva Guna, explains Swamiji, is the illumining power, knowledge which brings clarity and helps to see oneness in plurality. It binds one by causing clinging to happiness and knowledge. Rajo Guna is in the nature of desire and passion and it binds one through desire-motivated activity. Tamas is inertia, sleep, ignorance and it binds the embodied beings through lethargy, inattention and sleep.
Swamiji elaborates on the Sattva Guna and the bondage created by the Sattva Guna. Quoting verses from the 18th Chapter, Swamiji discusses Saatvika Jnana and Saatvika Sukha. There is a way of getting rid of the Rajasika bondage and Tamasika bondage by cultivating Sattva Guna and finally we have to overcome the Saatvika bondage also, says Swamiji.
