034 – Infinite Lord sits in your own heart | Voice of Upanishads | Swami Nirviseshananda Tirtha

1570 Views | 2 years ago

The journey out of our constricted, false identity takes another step further with Swami Nirviseshananda Tirtha. Shedding light on three beautiful shlokas from Kathopanishad, Swamiji opens up our minds to move away from the ignorance that robs us of our peace and happiness.

How can the Lord of the whole universe be described as being only the size of a thumb, that too seated in our hearts? Here lies the sheer brilliance of our ancient scriptures, only to be understood with the guidance of Spiritual Masters who have realized the Truth. Heart is the centre of our identity, the root of all emotional associations which carry us through our lives. Our fallacy lies in mistaking who we are to be no bigger than a thumb, different from all others. Freedom from fear and selfishness comes when we finally understand the infinity within what we consider to be our finite selves, knowing that everything we deem separate is none other than our real, transcendental Self.

Verses discussed:
Kathopanishad 2.1.12, 2.1.13, 2.3.17
Mandukya Karika 39
Mundakopanishad 2.2.4
Svetashvataropanishad 3.13
Bhagavad Gita 6.18-6.21, 6.28-6.32, 2.48
Taittiriyopanishad 3.6.1

Swamiji will be discussing 'Voice of Upanishads'. The Global Satsang will be based on Kathopanishad and Mundakopanishad. | Live Satsangs with Spiritual Masters on Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday at 8 pm IST/10:30 am EDT/ 10:30 pm MST.
