Essential Qualities of a Seeker of Truth
Swamiji continues the exposition of the four-fold Sadhana emphasizing the importance of these qualities in one’s quest for Truth.

We grasp the fundamental point that our Nishtha (dedication) towards the Truth will be successful only when we have these four-fold qualities. No amount of erudition will help us attain our ultimate goal of life.

Quoting verses from Bhagavad Gita and Vivekachoodamani, Swamiji says these texts discuss Viveka, the art of discrimination, thoroughly. He elaborates on the application of Buddhi Yoga in and through all activities. Our intelligence has to distinguish between Permanent and Impermanent. Bringing Discrimination to a simpler and applicational level, Swamiji speaks about Sreyas (one which leads us towards auspiciousness) and Preyas (one which leads us away from auspiciousness).

Swamiji highlights the fact that when a seeker gets established in Viveka, it automatically leads his mind to Vairagya. When the mind is adorned with more and more Vairagya, Discrimination (Viveka) also increases. Viveka and Vairagya, in turn, lead to the next six virtues.
