173 Views | 2 years ago

In this talk, Swamiji speaks about Divinizing life through Enlightened actions.

Swamiji talks about the misconception that Spirituality is a pursuit essentially for the renunciates or for the retired and old people.

He highlights thè revolutionary message of the Bhagavad Gita that one does not have to give up the interactional life to attain self Realization. Swamiji emphasises that activity is not a hurdle in the path of spiritual pursuit. On the contrary, actions are an instrument in the attainment of our spiritual goal. Without action we will not have any opportunity to purify our mind and intelligence, which is the basis of all spiritual sadhana.

Nutan Swamiji reminds us of our great heritage wherein the Rajarishis-- the kings and the rulers in the ancient times were knowers of truth. This knowledge of the Self guided them in their day-to-day administration, decision making and war situations. This knowledge has come down to us from generations but has been highly misunderstood.

Quoting from the Chandogya Upanishad and the Svetashvatara Upanishad, Swamiji enlightens us how the Rishis and the Sages searched for an answer to the questions about the universe, the world and the ‘I’ in us. They looked within and discovered the inner presence which pervades this entire universe. Based on their self experience, they passed on this Self Knowledge to their next generation and we have them in the form of our scriptures.

Swamiji highlights the context in which Krishna gave instructions to Arjuna. The Bhagavad Gità was to set right the mindset of Arjuna and remove his delusion. This was in the midst of a war situation.

Swamiji reminds us that as sadhakas , we should transcend the differences between spiritual pursuit and secular pursuit. In fact, we should learn how to balance the two and make our sadhana a wholesome pursuit.
